Background
I’ve been covering a wide range of news in the Twin Cities metro for over the past six years. My career began when I started out as a staff reporter for North News where I covered small business news in North Minneapolis. Since then, I’ve had bylines in the Star Tribune, MPR, Sahan Journal, and Minn Post. Recently, I’ve been developing my work in broadcast journalism and continue to grow my experience in the audio space as well. I currently serve as an associate editor at the Spokesman-Recorder, the longest running Black-owned newspaper in the state of Minnesota.

Off-Year Elections Give Opportunity To Really Make Voices Heard
The off-year election is about as hyperlocal as voting can get. School board races and referendums were on some ballots, while voters in Golden Valley decided on city council races and a sales tax referendum for public building projects. "Every vote matters whether it's mayoral, city council, or presidential,” said Ethan Litman, election judge at Sandburg Middle School. “I do say that these off-year elections matter more because fewer people are voting so it's a more important time than ever to make our voices heard.”

State Patrol in Golden Valley Unveils Newest Crimefighting Team
In approximately six weeks, a group of new Minnesota State Patrol K9s — named Charly, Robie, Alex, Joni, Tajga and Bolo — will graduate from their training and be deployed across to state. The dogs will specialize in narcotics detection. “I think that without the dogs, I don't think we'd be as proficient in finding stuff,” said Sgt. Chad Mills with the Minnesota State Patrol. “The dogs can sniff through pretty much everything.” So far this year, police K9s seized more than 55 pounds of cocaine and more than 45,000 fentanyl pills.
