Media Projects
For over a decade I’ve followed my passion for storytelling through filmmaking. Whether it’s in the form of narrative, documentary, or experimental, I’ve always enjoyed crafting a story from behind the lens and showcasing it on screen for a wider audience to enjoy. Here are some of the projects I’ve written and produced over the years. I also list some of the professional projects that I’ve assisted on over the years.

‘The Comeback’
With support from SPNN and the Jerome Foundation, “The Comeback” is a short-form documentary highlighting the work of community advocate and former counselor, Farhia Budul, in her mission to provide recovery resources for members of the East African and Muslim communities in Minnesota.
This short is part of a long-term feature project currently in the fundraising and development phase.

‘Temp’
As a part of my senior capstone at the University of Minnesota, I wrote, directed, and starred in this roughly 30-minute comedy sitcom titled ‘Temp.’ The idea for the show came from my experience of being a 20 something-year-old unsure of his future, but destined to continue his passion.
‘Temp’ was nominated for a Midwestern Student Emmy in 2020.

‘Outbreak’
As a part of the 2018 DOC-U cohort, I produced and directed this short investigation documentary on the measles outbreak that took place in the Somali community. I spoke to individuals across the issues with varying opinions to learn what led up to this outbreak.

‘The Homecoming’
During my first winter break from college, I wrote and starred in this short film about a pair of friends who return home from their freshman year of college. Though only a short time has passed since they’ve been away, a lot has been lost in that time.

‘Indirection’
This short film was a part of my IB Diploma evaluation in high school. I collaborated with a group of friends to produce a project on how people indirectly interact.
